Violin Lessons

My teaching style reflects that of the Suzuki method. The violin lessons I give are tailored to meet you and your child’s needs. I have prepared students for auditions and participation within their school and community orchestra programs. I also have a few students in Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS) and Minnesota Youth Symphonies (MYS).

I give Northern and Southern style fiddling lessons if desired. Northern style fiddling seems to have less double stops (two or more notes played together) in this kind of music than the Southern style. In my opinion, the Northern fiddling seems to be more expressive as well.

If you wish to pursue playing in an orchestra professionally, I am familiar with the main orchestra excerpts asked in a typical professional orchestra audition. As a regular member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra for one year, training orchestra for the Chicago Symphony, I prepared a few orchestra excerpts for admission into this group.

My lesson locations serve violin students in the Southeast, central and Northwest metro areas. My violin students come from school orchestra programs in districts 11, 12, 281, 623 and 833.
